Protein Blueberry Vanilla Oats

Oats are incredibly nutritious. They are a great complex carbohydrate and fiber source and are loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Oats can also aid in weight loss and because they are a complex carbohydrate, they will keep you full for longer due to the prolonged time it takes to digest them as opposed to simple carbohydrates.

In addition to the health benefits, oats are quick, easy, and CHEAP! Does it get much better than that? Plus, there are a million different combinations to customize your oats to your own preferences. This recipe, blueberry vanilla oats, is one of my favorite creations.

What You’ll Need:

  • ½ cup (40g) oats

  • ½ scoop (15g) vanilla protein powder

  • 1 tsp milled flax seed

  • 1 tsp raw organic maca powder

  • ⅔ cup (150g) unsweetened original almond milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp raw shelled pumpkin seeds

  • 8 almonds

  • 15 (30g) blueberries

How to Prepare:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the oats, protein powder, flax seed, and maca powder.

  2. Add the almond milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.

  3. Microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds.

  4. Garnish with pumpkin seeds, almonds, and blueberries.

*Macronutrients and calories will differ slightly depending on brands of ingredients used. The protein powder I use is from Myprotein. For the oats, do not buy instant, pre-packaged oats as they are packed full of sugar.

Enjoy!
