Casein Protein Fluff: The Ultimate Nighttime Snack

If you’re like me, you like to eat before bed. I tend to eat half of my calories for the day within a couple hours before I go to sleep. I’m not exaggerating when I say I make my protein fluff every single night, and I have been for over 6 months.

You can use any protein in this, but it’s optimal to end your night with casein protein. Why? Because casein is a slow-release protein. What does that mean? It takes much longer to be digested and used by the body and this is optimal to keep you fueled while you sleep so you’re constantly making strides towards your fitness goals.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 tsp (5g) milled flax seed

  • 60g frozen strawberries

  • 175 mL unsweetened almond milk

  • 1 tsp (3g) raw shelled pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbsp (16g) almond butter

  • 20g granola

How to Prepare:

  1. In a blender, add the protein powder, flax seed, strawberries, and almond milk. Blend until smooth consistency.

  2. NOTE: to get a thicker consistency, use less almond milk. I notice when I use the Soy Protein Isolate I use 150g almond milk to get a good consistency, while when I use the Slow-Release Casein, I have to use 175g-200g of almond milk.

  3. Scoop into a bowl and top with pumpkin seeds, almond butter, granola, and whipped cream (optional).
