Tomorrow is Labor Day! I am looking forward to sleeping in, spending quality time with my boyfriend (and cats), and letting my mind and body relax. Instead of just looking at Labor Day as a day off from work, let’s talk about the bigger picture and how we can reflect it on our own lives.
We celebrate Labor Day each year as a tribute to the social and economic achievements that American workers have made in the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
We should feel very fortunate to have been born in a time where careers are not all homogenous. You can become whatever the heck you want to become because we design our own lives, so leave your excuses behind and create a life you love!
As the saying goes “when you love what you do, you never work a day in your life”. You have the opportunity to choose your own career path and create a bomb-ass life for yourself doing what you love. Could people say the same 100 years ago? 50? What about 10? We are fortunate enough to have generations before us that paved the way.
Think about nutrition for example. When we are hungry, what do we do? We go to the grocery store or a restaurant. We don’t have to hunt or fish for our next meal. Think of all the time and energy this alone saves us each day. Are you spending your additional time productively?
Today, and everyday, I am thankful for all the opportunities I have had so far in this lifetime and all the opportunities that lay ahead in my future. Here is the thing, though. It may appear that opportunities present themselves to you, but they actually happen for you. The opportunities you get are a result of your actions. Would the outcome have been the same if you didn’t put in the work beforehand to make it happen? Most likely not. Sure, luck can play a role at times, but the opportunities that you get in life are the result of your hard work.
Things are a lot more rewarding when you have to work for them, instead of getting it handed to you. Whatever it is you’re wanting to achieve, whatever is on your bucket list, go make it happen because with a lot of hard work and dedication nothing is impossible.
